Hi all! (all Romanian deviants or people who happen to be in Romania between the 6th and 20th of April this year)

So, I'm going to have my first group exhibition in Bucharest and thought it would be great to share more details for those who are interested.

The opening will be on the 6th of April, at Odeon Galleries (Odeon Theatre), Bucharest, at 18:30. More details on the poster.

Today I won the first prize in a french contest and I'm going to take a 10 day trip to Paris in August. I'm so happy, especially that my first trip abroad will be there. This is the photo I won with:

and I want to thank you James, for being the model, Alecs who did a wonderful description of the photo and Alina, my room mate who translated it in French. Thanks guys I didn't actually know that the first prize is the trip and when I heard what I just won I dropped all the heavy art albums on the floor. Awkward moment, but whatever.

First of all, I am sick of being calm and waiting for the good will of some people to fulfill some promises and CONDITIONS regarding the use of my work, so I decided to make this public. As you probably saw in my last journal entry about last year's work, I was asked if one of my very old photos could be used as front and back covers for an Italian book. I accepted AFTER I told Mr Marco Porsia, the editor - a very nice man, full of good intentions (at first) - my conditions of use. I told him I won't charge the publishing company any money, but instead I wanted a sample of the book for free, and of course the mentioning of my name on the first page, as the author of the photo. "Yes of course, we will send it to you in no time, after publishing the book!". Never happened. And the mentioning of my name - I doubt it happened. I didn't give up so easy, so I wrote the publishing company, firstly being calm and polite. I kept my courtesy even in the angry messages. The result? Complete ignorance. I found Mr Filato's - the author - facebook page and I also left some messages there. He didn't even bother to delete them, which is okay with me, if he really wants to show the people how seriously does the publishing company he colaborated with treat its clients.

On the other hand, maybe it's my fault for not signing any contract (though I was told...or in this case, lied, that there is a contract to be signed, and I would have signed it "in the shortest time possible"), but we are speaking about the courtesy to fulfil's one conditions, especially when it comes to his/her work and moreover he/she doesn't charge any money for this.

I understand that maybe in his country this is a mark of how much artists appreciate other artists' work: by simply making fake promises to get what they want, after which they simply hide behind ignorance, even if we speak about terms of use and, needless to say, respect and required conditions. (You are a company for God's sake!).

What's new? Well, I'm waiting for the book of a friend to be released, because I made the covers - and yes, this time I am signing a contract . I hope I'll get to shoot all the photos I'm looking forward to shoot...and that's all. I just sat for a very hard exam and now I'm going to the physics course...what a joy.
